Managing Partner: Gary Vasconcellos (IIMS)

Gary is a New Zealand accredited and South African qualified boat builder. Gary holds two diplomas from the IIMS for Yachts and Small Craft (Hons) and IIMS Diploma for Commercial Ship Surveying.

Gary’s background at sea comes from his days in the navy as a radio officer. After his mandatory term of service Gary sailed off to the Caribbean as crew aboard a small yacht. Upon returning to his home country, South Africa Gary began the construction of his first yacht. Five years on and several more builds later, in 1988, he embarked on a global voyage.

Gary settled in Vanuatu in 1996. In addition to his role at Marine Surveyors & Consultants Vanuatu Gary owns Vanuatu’s top joinery and boat building /yacht repair business, Southern Cross Creations.

Gary’s expert knowledge and experience in the field of timber and composite boat building and repair is significant, he is without doubt the region’s finest craftsman and marine expert.

Managing Partner: Justin Jenkin (Assoc.IIMS)

Justin grew up sailing and managing boats and yachts of all descriptions. Justin’s maritime career has spanned over 25 years. He has worked as captain and engineer on a variety of commercial vessels including sport-fishers, passenger vessels and day charter vessels. Justin then moved over to the large yacht industry and spent 10 full years as captain and engineer on a variety of Superyachts (both Sail & Power)

Justin’s knowledge and experience obtained from his career as captain in the large yacht industry brings another specialist set of skills to further compliment our company.

This experience covers: large yacht surveying, large yacht operations, management, a high level of marine engineering knowledge and large yacht new build and refit management.

Justin is also the regional surveyor for the International Yacht Bureau. The International Yacht Bureau (IYB) is an independent, third‐party organization with the purpose of safeguarding life, property, and the marine environment.

In addition to surveying for MS&CV, Justin handles the day to day operations of his two other marine business: Yacht Services Vanuatu and the Port Vila Boatyard

Justin coordinates the repair and maintenance of commercial vessels, yachts and other craft on a daily basis.
